Turkey is one of the main fruit production areas and gene center of Prunus spp. in the world. Many accessions of local Prunus varieties are mainly seen in Central Anatolia. The agro ecosystem where Prunus spp.in Turkey are;Aculus fockeui,Phyllocoptes abaenus,Eriophyes armeniacus,Aculus cornutus,Diptacus gigantorhynchus,Phytoptus similes. This study was targeted to identify harmful eriophyoid mites on Prunus spp.around Ankara suburbs in the years 2004-2005.Specimens recovered from plant materials were prepared and slides mounted according to Keifer’s methods(Keifer,1975).The terminology and setal notation used in the morphological descriptions are those of Lindquist (1996).All measurements of mites were made according to Amrine and Manson (1996)anda re given in micrometers.the generic classification was made according to amrine et al.(2003).Plants samples from Prunus spp.were collected and thoroughly examined, including upper and lower leaf surfaces, petioles, buds, shoots, flowers. It was observed that harmful mites on Prunus spp.were in both gall and vagrant forms.Five eriophyoid mite species were identified in this study an done of them were new records and another one of them is new host for Turkey.
